National Dog Day & Friday Sunshine ☀︎

Just a quickie as I thought it might be nice to celebrate National Dog day by sharing a few of the cute Poochy Sunshines I've been asked to create over the last few months...

Do you have a favourite pooch? A favourite breed? A dream dog you've wanted since you were little? I've always wanted a wolf-dog (after seeing Balto!) but would happily settle for a Husky or Shiba Inu! To be fair there are a lot of doggies I would love to have but I think Toby Cat and Princess Pegs would have a lot to say about it...

If you have your own gorgeous hound that you'd like to make the star of your very own Sunshine doodle I'd love to hear from you! Please do get in touch via email (bonjour{at} or feel free to have a nosey through my Pet Sunshine album over on my Hello Sunshine Facebook Page if you're curious about more past doodles.

I've already shared a couple of sneak peeks about Project Van recently but I thought it was about time I introduced my newest project properly...

It has always been a dream of mine to own a Sunshine Campervan, a bright yellow split screen VW to be precise. This project is my way of bringing that dream to life by continuing to draw different campers and create exciting new products to share with you all, including brand new jewellery, colouring in pages and greeting cards to name but a few! YAY!

It is completely inspired by my Nanna and Grandad’s beautiful old VW Campervan, which they had when I was rather small. I have many fond memories of taking trips in the camper, especially to Attenborough Nature Reserve to feed the ducks! I also remember playing in the van when it was parked on the driveway and thinking how magic is was to have a mini kitchen in there! I also used to LOVE hearing stories about the trips and holidays they had there too.

The family history and my deep rooted love of Campervans means that I am extremely overexcited about ‘Project Van’ and have had so many ideas for brand new Sunshine whizzing round in my head for so long now I decided to make it REAL! So... here's hoping all of the daydreaming, previous van doodling and new planning I’ve been doing works out.

The ULTIMATE DREAM and goal is to be to make enough money from this project to combine with a little bit of inheritance my beautiful grandparents left me and fund my very own van! It's a BIG dream and may not even be possible but I'm gonna try my bloody best to get there and have loads of fun making campervan themed goodies for you lovely lot along the way!

If you're interested in finding out more you're very welcome to keep up to date with my Project Van adventures by doing any of the following:

By signing up to my newsletter. There will be no spam, honest! Just offers and updates on shiny new things :

Keeping tabs on this here blog, I might not post religiously but you can be sure to see Project Van updates and extra waffle appearing here :

Following along on Instagram, (@sunshine_jo), the Hello Sunshine Facebook Page or Twitter (@sunshine_jo). I guarantee there will be lots of regular updates and behind the scenes peeks as things develop.

I hope you're as excited as me (or even a teeny bit excited) about Project Van and if you have any questions, thoughts, ideas or comments I'd love to here from you!

Friday Family Sunshine ☀

Hello and happy Friday you lovely lot! I hope you've all had a fun-filled week and are looking forward to the weekend. It's been a busy old week here at Sunshine HQ preparing for a craft fair this weekend (see my last post for all the info) but I'm taking a bit of time out this morning to enjoy extra brews and share a couple of wonderful family portraits with you all.

I'm sure you all know by now how much I love creating custom portraits for people and when Nikki asked me too doodle her beautiful family and capture some of their favourite hobbies and interests I couldn't have been more excited!

So, without further waffle, I would like you to meet The Mann Family, including Nikki, Lloyd, Piper, Sawyer and Jasper the one eyed cat...

It was a lot of fun capturing everyone's outfits and favourite things to create such a personal and meaningful portrait for Nikki and her family. I'm thrilled with how it turned out and I hear The Manns are pretty darn chuffed too - YAY!

Next up was a very special family Sunshine as a gift from Gemma to Liam for their anniversary. Originally from the UK but now living in the states, Gemma wanted to capture the special places in their hearts as well as their beautiful little girl Layla and Pippa the dog.

So much thought and love went in to creating this portrait and I loved doodling them all - especially Pippa in her cute stars and stripes bandana! This is the final Sunshine that flew over seas, all the way to the states to join the happy family...

If you would like to turn yourself and your loved ones into a Sunshine then I'd LOVE to hear from you! You can find out more about general costs and the process now over on my website too - just head to the Sunshine Portraits and Doodle section. Or if you can't see what you're looking for please do drop me an email at bonjour{at} for a chat about creating your very own Sunshine.

Thank you for popping by and here's wishing you all a very HAPPY FRIDAY!

Friday Sunshine ☀️

Wow! It's August and the Summer holidays are in full swing for lots of people now I guess? I hope you're all enjoying the sunshine and some adventures or have some to look forward to soon!

I thought I'd swing by this sunny Friday with a bit of a fattybumbum post for you all as July ended on a great foodie high with a visit to another amazing foodPark Night Market and I have added a new #fattybumbumdrawsvans doodle to my growing collection!

We cycled to Gravel Hill Farm where the huge barn there was full of food and drink vendors again. As before there was so much choice and we had the best time wondering around in the warm sunshine and a Prosecco in hand trying to decide what to eat first.

Prosecco on Tap : The Spirited Mare

Although I wanted to try EVERYTHING I reigned myself in and we went for a delicious meze box from the ever wonderful Wandering Yak, who have also just been named Best Street Food in the Cambridge Food & Drink awards - YAY!

...then followed by the MOST delicious wings from Buffalo Joe, like seriously amazing! I had there burger a while ago and I thought that was brilliant but we actually didn't stop talking about the wings for days after this!

For pudding I was instantly drawn to the new van on the block, Choux Stopper which looks as though it's an old ambulance (I may be wrong but it was a cool looking van anyhow) and was serving the most incredible looking little choux pastry treats.

The Raspberry Collins : Choux Stopper

The queue was massive but I didn't mind as it gave my tummy time to settle and get excited again for more treats! Plus, when we got closer to the serving hatch I lost all track of time and became mesmerized watching Simon create these mini pieces of (delicious) art...

I was spellbound and after taking several snaps and the little timelapse video above I couldn't wait to get my sketch book out and add the show stopping Choux Stopper to my collection of doodles! I think it makes a nice little doodle... what do you think?

All in all it was a lovely evening and the sky gave us a real treat with a stunning sunset for the cycle home afterwards - the perfect end to a food filled date night.

I still have a list of food vans I'd like to work my way through (sampling the menu and doodle wise!) and as new ones seem to be popping up at events around Cambridge I'm sure my collection will continue to grow. Please feel free to let me know if you spy any new food vans around Cambridge or would like to see particular ones added to the collection as I'd love to hear your thoughts too!

As you can probably tell, I am very much enjoying this project and promise to try and keep you updated with blog posts and regular Facebook Page album updates as I go along. As this is very much a personal project it all happens in between work hours so updates may not be super regular but feel free to follow ongoing food van stalkings and food porn pics on Instgram with the hashtag #fattybumbumdrawsvans and don't forget to look up foodPark on twitter to stalk all the food vans yourself if you're in the area!
