Mini festive catch up

I thought I'd take this opportunity to say 'Hello' and post some festive pictures to share with you all. A peek into Sunshine world at Christmas!

I'll start with some snow mainly because as I look out of my window I see it melting away into a bit of a slushy mush which makes me a tad sad because these pictures are just beautiful!

They were taken around where I work and it going to be tough facing the office again after Crimblemas especially knowing that it won't look this pretty tomorrow! It's hard to think only a couple of weeks ago everywhere looked like a picture perfect winter wonderland! Lovely!

Crimblemas is always a busy time for Sunshines and I love drawing them for people - it's great to be able to create something that's so personal to someone, whether I know them or not. I created some of my favourite sunshines in the latter part of this year and below are a couple more I am uber pleased with...

Mummy Sunshine - my lovely Mummy!

Starkey Family Portrait....

...all framed and ready to be wrapped!

Chris & Sarah

I'll be working on a couple more over the next couple of weeks so I'll be sure to share the progress of them with you all as I'm quite excited about them already!

So... if you remember I was a bridesmaid just before Christmas - YAY! - it was The. Most. PERFECT. day. EVER! Becky & Adam looked stunning and so in love I couldn't hold back the tears! I think I speak for everyone there when I say the day was amazingly special and perfect for them both! The bride was beautiful and the bridesmaids looked pretty darn good too! I only have a couple of pics for now but there will be plenty more to come I am sure!

Mr & Mrs Stanford!

The lovely Bridesmaids

Ok so one last (but definitely not least!) peek into my festive world...

I have been on Aunty duty this Christmas for my beautiful little Lexie and loved every minute of it! I mean how can you not love being in the presence of this little beaut? She's been a very good little girl and Santa definitely spoiled her on her first Christmas. It was lovely to be with the family and I can honestly say I've had a wonderful Christmas. I'm a very lucky girl and would just like to say a MASSVE Thank you to my friends, family, boy and all you lovelies that have supported me throughout 2010.

Here's to a FANTABULOUS 2011 filled with lots more sunshine, funtimes, laughs and adventures!

Ding Ding the bells are gonna chime!

So much exciting stuff has happened this month... and I promise to bombard you all with plenty of photo's and catch up waffle after the madness of Christmas has settles down.

I am off to Ely in Cambridgeshire tonight as one of my fantabulous friends is tying the knot festive styleeee in the morrow! YAY! I'm so frickin' excited not only about the day and the chance it may snow for the lovely couple but because I am to be bridesmaid! For the FIRST time too and this is the dress I shall be wearing...

I shall be pairing this festive beaut with some black heels and a lil' fur shrug (... you never know it may help keep me warm!). Might be able to smuggle a hot water bottle in there somewhere too!

The question be whether I wear my hair up or down now... decisions! Too many to make when I'm this excited!

Better get sorted and ready for the train ride... Toddles for now! Stay warm! x

Itch Gallery

The lovely Itch Gallery have recently posted some beautiful photos on their facebook page. Everything there looks stunning and I'm 'itching' to go (Boom boom!)

Seriously though, the photo's are beautiful, the treasures in the photo's are even more beautiful and I was so excited to see my work displayed in such a lovely way that I had to share it with you all!

Get down to Itch Gallery to do a spot of Christmas shopping or even just to perv at the pretties there! Perfect way to warm the soul is retail therapy...

The More It Snows (Tiddely-pom)

...the more it goes (Tiddley-pom)

I love the snow, it makes everything seem so peaceful, bright and pretty! Late last night and early this morning listening to the snow crunch under my booties and listening to the muffled sounds of the world I forgot about how tired I was and how much going to work rather than building a snowman sucks and enjoyed the quiet snowy wonderland.

Anywho... here's some pictures I wanted to share with you that were taken on my little rubbish relic of a phone, but I think you can still appreciate the prettiness of the snow all around.

Have fun out in the snow everyone and stay safe and keep toasty warm!

Etsy Treasury feature...

It's always lovely knowing that other people admire your work and Etsy treasuries are a darn good way of sharing the love as well as a good excuse to trawl all the pretties on the fab lil' site.

I have been lucky enough to be featured in a few treasuries - mainly about sunshine (YAY!) and it always boosts my mood and sparks a spontaneous Etsy hunt for more pretties to add to my ever growing wish list! This one made me smile - the yellows are so beautiful, the items so pretty and the title says so...

'Sunshine makes me smile and flowers grow' has been put together by print maker Kelly Tankersley (88 editions) from Austin and I thought I'd share it with you all too. Enjoy!

I think it's about time I trawled through my favourites on Etsy and created my own treasury... I may wait until payday though so I can treat myself at the same time... mwah ha ha ha ha!

Ooo and while I'm waffling on check out my updated Folksy & Etsy sites as they now feature a selection of my latest jewellery available as well as a couple of cheeky 'Happy Campers' greeting cards.... go peruse at your leisure and enjoy.

A mention in The Telegraph!

With a mahoosive smile on my face and glass of wine in hand (courtesy of my lovely housemate!) I am fantabulously happy to share this with you guys!

It may only be a couple of lines but to see my little Hello Sunshine brand and my name mention in the telegraph is overwhelmingly exciting! The article about Christmas Shopping Hotspots can be read in full on the Telegraph website but here's a little peek of the text that mentions Hello Sunshine at the lovely Harley Gallery...

Harley Gallery, Welbeck, Notts

Best for original arts and crafts

This contemporary craft hub at Welbeck near Worksop was constructed in 1994 on the ruins of the Welbeck Estate’s gasworks (built to illuminate the fifth Duke of Portland’s crazy maze of underground tunnels). As well as a museum of treasures from the Portland Collection, the site houses two gallery spaces and a terrific shop stocking ceramics, artisan jewellery and fashion accessories, plus children’s books and toys.

There is also a Christmas Market on November 27 and 28, which, now in its 10th year, takes over the Harley Workshops, where East Midlands artists and makers sell their goods. Visitors get the run of more than 40 craft stalls and resident artists’ studios: look out for ceramicist/printmaker Nicola Lidstone, whose speciality is porcelain cows, sheep and llamas; and Stella Corrall, whose homewares are made from translucent recycled plastic. It’s a Christmas shopping idyll, not too hectic, and with quality refreshments.

  • Splash out on a silver, 18ct gold and aquamarine ring by Sue Lane, £245 from the gallery shop.
  • Stretch out your spending with a cute wooden necklace from the Hello Sunshine range by Jo Want, £9-£22 from the gallery shop.
  • While you’re here visit Creswell Crags just up the road, a limestone gorge pocketed with caves that were inhabited after the Ice Age; children love the cave tours (
  • Eat at the stall set up by the terrific Welbeck Farm Shop: hot, home-cooked food.
  • Stay at Browns b & b (01909 720659; at Holbeck, which has three cheerful four-poster rooms and serves good breakfasts; doubles from £74 b & b ; no children.
  • Treat yourself to the cakes at the gallery’s Limehouse Café.

As you can imagine I'm pleased as punch! Now, talking of drinks... where's the celebratory vino....?

More sunshines...

Just a quickie to share some sunshine on this dark evening...

You may have seen my last post featuring little Daisy & Alfie... well here's the finished thing that went to a very happy Daddy!

This sunshine is to be a wedding gift for my friends who have now jetted off to the Big Apple for their honeymoon! Such a beautiful day it was too... never have I seen so much beautiful purple bunting... never mind to beautiful purple of the brides dress! Lovely!

And if that wasn't enough sunshine for you... here are a couple more I am working on right now for a good friend who has had 2 lots of very exciting news just lately.

One will be a Save the date card for their wedding (YAY!) and one will be a new address card for their new house they are purchasing right now! (DOUBLE YAY!) This time of year is so frickin' exciting!

Ok so I need to go calm down and make a cuppa tea now... toodles!

Home at last...

It feels like an age since I've sat here in my room and been able to ... well just sit! With a brew and some time here's a catch mini reflection on the whirlwind of a fortnight that's it's been.

Amidst the hectic rushing around and hard working there has definitely been good news from the world of Hello Sunshine! I have been a busy lately due to a number of things... One of which is doodling up a couple of commission 'sunshine' caricatures. I have a couple more to get on with this week too which is always ace as I love doing them so much! The one I am working on right now is my favourite yet... so cute... here's a peek at the work in progress...

Alfie & Daisy

I am also about to get the 'thumbs up' to start making up a wedding stationary order which has been great too. Bloomin' love helping people create something for their big day so as you can imagine that has distracted me for a while and probably will do for the next week or so. EXCITING!

I have also been trying to sort out my old and new stock so I am ready for a couple of fairs due to pop up in November... one of which is Craft Candy's Candy Cane Christmas fair, which I can promise you is something you will be hearing more of through me as I'll be there and hoping to see lots of smiley faces in Sheffield!

Something else that has been preoccupying me too is Christmas, I know it's only October but sometimes working for a big retail company it feels like Christmas all year round and it's not always a bad thing... especially for ideas and inspiration! This year I will be partaking in the art of chutney & jam making! I can't wait to try the recipes I've found and start searching for jars and decorative items to present them - so festive and one of the reasons Chutney features in one of my Christmas card designs... which are available to order now if you missed my first blog post about these!

And THE most exciting news I can tell you is that over the last month I've worked my socks off making up new stock and approaching potential galleries and outlets to supply... and I can safely say... "I love it when a plan comes together!" because the below places now stock Hello Sunshine jewellery.... so if you're in the neighbourhood pop in...

Leeds Craft Centre & Design Gallery

Cherry Cherry

The Hub National centre for Craft & Design

Fingers crossed I will have some more to shout about but for now I have some follow up emails to send, some drawing to get on with and a fair few Christmas projects to try and focus on so watch this space for more exciting news... you will be the first to know! Until then I bid you lots of warm thoughts and a good night! x

My Pretty has arrived!

It's here and I'm so excited that I had to share it! This is the BEAUTIFUL dress I have been saving my pennies for over the last few months. It's from Get Cutie which is an AWESOME shop in Brighton but also has a fabulous website too...

It arrived today and fits like a dream so now I have the perfect dress to twirl around in at the wedding I'm off to at the end of this month (and any other occasion I can think of to wear it!). My pair of shiny red shoes and the beautiful pretty I got from Eclectic Eccentricity last payday and I'm good to go.... roll on 30th October!

I might go and try it all on again.... *schmile*

Busy, busy, busy!

Just a quick post to apologise for being so quiet but also to give you a peek of why I have been so quiet.... over the past few days I have been working my little socks off to complete a mass of jewellery in time for Christmas and the seasonal fairs that will be upon me before I know it.

My bedroom slash studio has been through some tough bomb site-esque times this week but I am pleased to say that in another 10 x necklace time I will be done and then the packing, pricing and organising will begin...

Anywho, here's a peek at one of the stages in my mass danglies making- adventure. Eep! That sounds like something out of a cheesy porn film but I assure you it's just jewellery talk...

I will have some very exciting news to share about shiny new ventures with my work and some new stockists in time for Crimblemas but I have some paperwork to sort out before I spill the beans... so watch this space! *jigs around in excitment*

Toodles for now everyone! x

The day the sunshine and Christmas came out...

This past couple of weeks I've been quite poorly. I have a horrible habit of throwing myself back into my life with full force a tad too soon after being ill and last month when I was poorly I never quite recovered... so it came back with a vengeance this month and knocked me for six!

But... after nearly a week of bed, rest, reading and lots of tea and old films I am feeling MUCH better and the sun has come out which always makes me feel better! YAY!

So with the sun out today I decided to think about Christmas... yeah go figure.... but it is necessary I guess as October sprang from nowhere and I've been meaning to bring my festive ideas to life for a while now.

After some scribbling, doodling, lots of rubbing out and some macelton time here are the finished designs....

I hope you enjoy these little illustrations as much as I enjoyed doodling them! I will be taking orders for Christmas cards so if anybody is interested in these cheeky little designs please get in touch via my website

Right... and now to enjoy the sunshine before it disappears! Ta ta for now! x
